About Me:
A former Disney Cast Member, v.c. rhone (all lowercase), believes in the transformative “magic” of storytelling. v.c. is a Creative Executive and manages a development slate and serves as a Senior Story Analyst.
A dynamic storyteller herself, v.c. also writes, produces, and directs across genres and formats, embracing social scenes in a way that’s provocative and entertaining. v.c. co-wrote and produced Not Afraid – addressing the Murdered Missing Indigenous Women crisis – which received the Indigenous Culture and Film Award at the Windrider Summit & Sundance Film Festival Experience in Park City, UT.
Her digital series, New Beginnings was acknowledged by the Austin Film Festival and uses humor to explore life in a rehab facility for a group of teens who bond over their trauma and poor choices they’ve made in hopes of making better ones.
Her award-winning documentary Pie a la Mode which explores the lives of early African American settlers in a small town known for its award-winning pie but governed by Confederate soldiers, has screened at over 20 festivals globally.
v.c. is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied under Academy Award Winner, Carol Dysinger (Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone If You’re a Girl).
She is a member of the International Documentary Association, Film Independent, and the Alliance of Women Directors. v.c. is the Creative Director for a writing initiative focused on helping writers unlock stories and discover their characters, focusing heavily on women and underrepresented groups, while creating a safe space to share, read, critique, and highlight strong characters and voices.
When she’s not creating magic onscreen, v.c. volunteers in her community and is a former appointed city official where she worked closely with the police department to improve human relations. She has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and the OC Register for the work she has done in the community and for her dedication to using the arts as a bridge to promote human dignity.
