Producer
WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR: Drama, Inspirational, Science Fiction, Historical, Magical Realism, Thriller, Procedural
ABOUT ME:
Matthew Reynolds is a seasoned executive with over twenty years of experience in film and television development. In addition to serving as associate producer on Netflix’s THE HIGHWAYMEN, starring Kevin Costner and directed by John Lee Hancock, he served as Vice President of Development and Production at Casey Silver Productions where he played a role in the early development of Netflix’s GODLESS, starring Jeff Daniels, HBO’s MOSAIC, directed by Steven Soderbergh, as well as feature films including Universal’s LEATHERHEADS, directed by and starring George Clooney; Lionsgate’s FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li ; and Disney’s HIDALGO and LADDER 49.
Growing up in rural Indiana, Matthew had an early interest in storytelling, making short films with his father’s Super 8 camera and banging out scripts on a typewriter. Appearing as an extra in the basketball drama HOOSIERS stoked his interest in moving to Hollywood someday.
Armed with degrees in journalism and business, Matthew honed his writing skills as a crime reporter for a small daily newspaper before moving to Los Angeles, where he landed production assistant gigs and worked as a reader for New Line Cinema and the ICM talent agency. He was hired as a story analyst at Casey Silver Productions, run by the former Universal Studios chairman, where he worked his way up the ranks.
Notable among Matthew’s credits is THE HIGHWAYMEN, which he developed at Silver’s company. Written by John Fusco, the writer behind YOUNG GUNS and Netflix’s MARCO POLO, the film tells the story of Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, played by Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson, who tracked down Bonnie & Clyde. After premiering at the South by Southwest Film Festival, it went on to be one of the most viewed features on Netflix at the time of its debut on the platform.
Since then, Matthew has formed his own production company, which has secured the rights to a variety of intellectual properties and screenplays in a wide range of genres, including a spy thriller comic strip by crime novelist Dashiell Hammett, writer of THE MALTESE FALCON. Matthew is committed to finding and helping breakthrough talent and emerging
voices.
