Corey Saffold
Producer
WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR: DRAMA, CRIME, SPORTS, DOCUMENTARIES, ACTION, ROMANCE
ABOUT ME:
Born and raised in Inglewood, California, Corey Saffold’s interest in Film and TV started very early while attending the athletic powerhouse Morningside High School in Inglewood, CA.. Being one of the top high school basketball players in the nation in 1993, along with his four talented teammates, their top ranked basketball team drew the interest of film producers and directors Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins. The two Hollywood execs decided to make a ground breaking documentary called HARDWOOD DREAMS. The documentary chronicled Mr. Saffold and his teammates senior season as defending state champions trying to repeat and the obstacles that were ahead of them on and off the court. After attending the University of Oklahoma on a basketball scholarship and then attending Long Beach State University and taking film classes at Long Beach State, an interest in film was peaked even more.
With the success of HARDWOOD DREAMS 1, 2 and 3; Mr. Saffold’s interest in film started to grow and began to work with Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins on various movies and projects. Most notable, Coach Carter as an production assistant and most recently with Mandalay Sports Production in conjunction with CBS Sports documenting the NBA Summer League in Vegas as a producer assistance to lead producer Mason Gordon.
Currently, he’s very busy these days developing and producing projects for film and television through his own production engine. The first project to rollout is the reality show entitled THE NITTY WAY which is in development and follows the ups and downs of the number one street ball player in the world Franklin Session aka Frank Nitty. Frank Sessions has a story that may seem familiar to many we may have heard before. However, he and his story are dramatically different, yet incredibly relatable and powerful. He has proven himself the hard way, and earned his rep and respect one move, step, and point at a time. Nothing came easy and continuous difficult choices were made along the way. Yet in this day of social media a player doesn’t necessarily need to make it to the NBA to reach a certified hooper status. THIS story is bigger than basketball, its about life.
