ABOUT ME:
Jonny Paterson is an LA-based producer and entertainment executive, the founder of JP International Productions and formerly the Head of Development and Vice President of Television at Confluential Films.

In January 2019, Jonny joined Tommy Oliver’s Confluential Films as Head of Development where he built and oversaw their slate of features, scripted and unscripted TV, and premium documentaries with partners that included Sony, Netflix, HBO Docs, Hulu and Peacock among others. The mandate at Confluential, as a black owned and operated business, was predominantly to source projects that center people of camera in front of and behind the camera. Telling stories that exhibit our shared human experience through the lens of underrepresented voices is where Jonny focused a majority of his time. Jonny also held the position of Vice President of Television before transitioning to a first-look producing deal with the company in September 2022 through which he will continue to produce content with them.

In 2014 Jonny started JP International Productions and in 2016 he completed his debut feature “Halfway”, starring Quinton Aaron (“The Blindside”) and Jeffrey DeMunn (“The Shawshank Redemption”, “The Green Mile”, “The Walking Dead”). “Halfway” received its world premiere in competition at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival in 2016 and was nominated for the Discovery Award at the British Independent Film Awards in 2017.

Earlier in his career he held positions at ICM and Lionsgate before spending 18 months in the office of Paula Wagner (“Mission: Impossible” franchise) at Chestnut Ridge Productions. Jonny is a recipient of the BAFTA Los Angeles Newcomer Award, was an invited participant at the 2017 Berlinale Talent Campus and sat on the Paley Center’s Media Council throughout 2018.

A native of Scotland, Jonny received his bachelor’s degree in English literature and history from the University of Leeds and his master’s degree in entertainment industry management from Carnegie Mellon University.
